Evan Berke started his comedy career at eighteen, while he was a freshman at the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC. The Atlanta native first took stage at the notorious Upper Deck Tavern on King Street, where in 2009, the standup comedy scene in the Holy City was almost entirely dwarfed by the city’s thriving improv scene. During his time in Charleston, Berke’s relationship with comedy evolved from a small stage hobby to a career totally immersed in the local communities. Berke is the resident director of comedy at the JAIL BREAK Music & Arts Festival. He has performed at the Charleston Comedy Festival, Piccolo Spoleto Festival, and has twice been a finalist in the Charleston Standup Comedy Competition. He graduated with a degree in Communications in 2013. In the summer of 2011, Berke studied at The Second City in Chicago, where he honed his improv and writing skills. He has since studied at the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City. In 2014, Berke produced his first comedy tour of the Southeast alongside comedians Dusty Slay, Vince Fabra, and Derek Humphrey. True to form, Evan Berke is very active in Brooklyn and Manhattan’s performance arts and events scenes. A love for standup has opened him up to all of the other elements of performance—event production, emceeing, video production, and above all, acting, producing, directing, and writing. He is currently the Resident Host of the PechaKucha Brooklyn Chapter, which puts on monthly storytelling events by a diverse group of creatives from around the world. Berke’s latest film project is called Roaring 20s. With co-creator Desmond Thorne, Berke is the series co-producer/director/writer and star.
